Christmas is coming!

VOX Cultural Digest, Issue N5

It’s Christmas time – the time of the year for magic and happiness, so we wanted to share with you some of our favorite things to do this December. Here are some tips to help you enjoy the holidays!

Christmas Markets

Even if you are not that into the Christmas spirit yet – you will! Or just take the chance to enjoy a Glühwein or Raclette, no matter if just waiting for the train in Zurich HB or for the tram at Bellevue. Christmas is all around you! And if you have the time, go and visit the suggestive market and church of Einsiedeln, maybe after a long day of skiing or hiking in the snow.

Create your own Christmas candle: Kerzenziehen am Bürkiplatz

Christmas lights are the best, and candles are the best of the best! Until December 22nd, drop by at Bürkliplatz with your kids (or… grown-up-friends) and create your very own, traditional Christmas candle to decorate, warm, and light up your house or office!

Dolder Ice Skating

It’s You don’t need to be in New York to go ice skating under the Christmas tree. Bring your own skates or rent them at the entrance (be there early, in order to avoid too long waiting time!), and slide to the rhythm of the music!

Skiing

Hoch-Ybrig Whether you are a professional or a beginner, canton Zurich offers you a lot of options, when it comes to skiing. Or just enjoying a day in the snow – only 1h from Zurich by car.

 Round and about by tram
  • Märlitram A fantastic, magical tram round trip from Zurich Bellevue. This activity is for children only. However, while you kids are enjoying a magical tram ride from and to Bellevue, you can always choose among the other activities from this newsletter, can’t you? A Glühwein at the Christmas Market in Bellevue, maybe?

  • Fondue Tram Two Swiss traditions combined: Enjoy Switzerland’s favorite meal while riding Zurich’s traditional tram and enjoying the city by night.
For food and especially chocolate lovers
  • Confiserie Schober Enjoy coffee and sweets in one of Zurich’s oldest and most traditional locations, in the heart of the old town, Niederdorf.

  • Chocolarium A chocolate bite can save your day. But do you know how long and adventurous its journey to you has been? If not, find it out in the Choloarium, the chocolate museum, and learn everything you need to know about chocolate!

  • Baking courses and much more Nothing smells like Christmas more than homemade Christmas cookies. Gather friends and family and organize a little Christmas baking afternoon. Not a great patissier yet? No problem! Sign up for one of the several courses offered by Mini Schoggi.
